Onanmedia is a service provider platform connecting users with services offered by independent sellers. The platform aimed to acquire 1,000 service providers and generate 2,000 service listings within 90 days.
To support this goal, I designed a reward-based mission experience that encouraged new sellers to register, publish their services, and become familiar with the platform's core features.
Rather than directing new users straight to a conventional dashboard, the mission feature gave them clear, actionable steps to get started. By combining incentives with guided activities, the experience aimed to turn seller acquisition into meaningful platform engagement.

My Role
As a UI/UX Designer, I designed the seller-facing mission page and the admin panel used by the marketing team to manage promotional campaigns.
My responsibilities included user research, benchmarking, UX flows, interface design, progress tracking, and designing tools for campaign configuration and monitoring.
Challenges
Motivating New Sellers to Join
Potential sellers needed a stronger incentive to register and start offering their services on Onanmedia.
Helping Sellers Get Started
Registration was only the first step. New sellers also needed guidance and motivation to publish their services and understand how to get started on the platform.
Simplifying Campaign Management
The marketing team needed a flexible way to create and manage promotional events, configure rewards, and monitor campaign progress without relying on a rigid, one-off system.
Process
1. User Analysis
I explored the barriers preventing potential sellers from joining and the challenges new users encountered after registration.
- Motivation: Incentives and the benefits of joining needed to be communicated more clearly.
- Activation: New sellers needed a more engaging way to complete their first important activities.
- Usability: The service-posting journey needed to feel more approachable and easier to follow.
2. Benchmarking & Data Analysis
I reviewed gamification patterns from service marketplaces such as Fiverr and Upwork, focusing on how incentives and progress indicators could encourage user participation.
I also reviewed registration and service-posting data to understand the platform's baseline performance and identify opportunities to improve seller activation.
3. Design Strategy
Turn the onboarding journey into a series of achievable missions.
Instead of presenting users with an open-ended dashboard, the mission experience gave them specific actions to complete in exchange for a reward.
The strategy focused on three principles:
- Clear goals: Make the next step obvious.
- Visible progress: Help users understand what they have completed and what remains.
- Meaningful rewards: Connect incentives to actions that contribute directly to platform growth.
Solutions
1. A Mission-Based Onboarding Experience
The mission feature introduced two key activities:
- Register as a service provider on Onanmedia.
- Publish at least two service listings.
Each mission represented a meaningful step in the seller journey. Completing these activities helped users move beyond registration and begin using the platform's core functionality.
2. A Dedicated Mission Dashboard
The mission page brought the tasks, progress, and reward into one place.
- Progress indicators showed how much of each mission had been completed.
- Mission statuses distinguished completed tasks from those still in progress.
- Contextual actions helped users continue the next unfinished task.
- Reward visibility kept the incentive clear throughout the journey.
The interface was designed to make the onboarding process feel more approachable, motivating users to complete the actions required to unlock their reward.

3. A Flexible Admin Panel for Marketing
To support recurring promotional campaigns, I also designed an admin panel with a Master Event system.
The marketing team could configure and manage:
- Campaign periods and registration quotas.
- Reward amounts and mission requirements.
- Event status and campaign settings.
- Progress and event performance statistics.
This gave the team a more flexible way to manage promotions without needing a completely new workflow for every campaign.

Results
Within 90 days, Onanmedia reached its targets:
- 1,000 service providers acquired
- 2,000 service listings generated
The mission campaign supported both seller acquisition and the completion of important onboarding activities, connecting promotional incentives with the platform's broader growth objectives.
Key Takeaway
Gamification can do more than attract users. When missions are tied to meaningful product actions, they can also help guide users toward their first steps on a platform.
For Onanmedia, the mission experience connected business goals with user actions: encouraging sellers to join, helping them begin publishing services, and giving the marketing team a flexible system to manage promotional campaigns.
